To Celebrate the 50th anniversary of Teesside Branch, we held a special event on 11th October 2008.

The event gave members and their partners a chance to socialise

Forty-five members, guests and friends from other branches gathered together in St Augustine’s Church Hall, Kirkby-in-Cleveland to celebrate the first 50 years of the founding of Teesside Branch of the BCSS. Other invited friends sent their apologies for their absence, including the founding secretary, Tom Lavender.

A very entertaining afternoon began with an illustrated talk by Paul Hoxey about his adventures in Peru.

This was followed by the ceremonial sharing of a celebration cake, made and elaborately decorated by Louie Walker. Alasdair Glen, Vice Chairman of the BCSS, gave a short speech and then made the first cut.
