There are many different species of Crassula, which include a wide range of plant and leaf forms, but probably the most common in cultivation is the South African C. arborescens (or C. portulacea), commonly known as the "Jade Tree" or "Money Plant". It presents few problems in cultivation, though it can elongate if given insufficient light. In time it will form a stout trunk and strong branches giving it the appearance of a small tree, up to 1m (3 feet) or more across. Many people seem to have trouble getting it to flower, but it will flower readily each winter if kept warm in the summer and cool enough in the winter.
