Opuntias
Apparently there are four species
of Opuntia growing on the Galapagos Islands, but there seems to be some
confusion about the correct taxonomy.

These two plants appear to be distinct species,
the one on the left being O. echios (or O. galapageia v echios), the one
on the right is unidentified but is probably O. galapageia or one of its
varieties.

The Opuntias can grow very large, tree-like in
fact, as can be seen on the small island in the background of this picture.
