Many people have the misconception of cactus habitat of sand dunes reminiscent of Lawrence of Arabia, in fact most cactus habitat is semi-arid scrub country. In the case of Coryphantha vivipara v bisbeana even that is not really the case. The picture on the left shows grassland filled with desert annuals in the foreground with the snowy topped Santa Rita Mountains behind. Closer examination of that grassland leads to the discovery of both clumps of Coryphantha (right) and also Echinocereus rigidissimus.
