Ariocarpus agavoides

Ariocarpus agavoides

Ariocarpus (or Neogomesia) agavoides come from Mexico. Their elongated tubercles can be mistaken by the less experienced for Leuchtenbergias, though they are actually quite distinct. The woolly tufts are pleasing to the eye, and once flowering size is  reached (flowering plants can be quite small, but they are so slow they still need to be several years old) these showy purple-pink flowers can be expected. Seedlings are often grafted to speed up their development and to help ensure their survival.
